Engagement sessions aren't just about the photos — they're about getting comfortable in front of a camera before your wedding day. We'll explore a location you love, and I'll guide you through the whole thing. You'll barely notice the camera.

I know the light at each of these locations — the best hour, the best angle, and the spots the tourists don't find.
Planning
Almost every session starts about ninety minutes before sunset and runs until the light is gone. Not because golden hour looks good on a mood board, but because of what it does to skin and water at the same time. Earlier and the sun is high enough to put shadows under your eyes. Later and you are shooting a silhouette whether you meant to or not.
Six to eight months before the wedding if you want the images for save-the-dates. Four is enough for a wedding website or a welcome sign. If there is no wedding attached to this at all, any Tuesday works.
At Corona del Mar and Treasure Island the pools turn to mirrors when the water pulls back, and you get the sky twice in one frame. I check the chart before confirming a time, which is why I sometimes move a session by half an hour.
We meet and walk. That is most of it. I put you somewhere with good light, give you something small to do, then step back far enough that you forget I am there. The frames people keep are rarely the ones where they were looking at the camera.
About ninety minutes of shooting. Bring a second outfit if you want variety, and shoes you can walk in on sand and rock. Galleries delivered within two weeks, high resolution, print rights included.
