Process
Everything here is chosen so the print on your wall still looks like the evening it was taken, decades from now.
The image
I shoot the coast and the desert at the edges of the day, when the light lasts a few minutes. Most images are one frame from one evening, sometimes a long exposure of a minute or more so the water records as movement rather than a splash. I do not composite skies or add elements. The color is the color that was there, brought up in the edit the way film used to do it.
The print
Printed with pigment inks on 100 percent cotton fine art paper, rated to last well over a century without fading when framed behind glass. This is the same process museums use for photographic editions.
For 24x36 and 30x45, the print can be bonded to the back of a quarter-inch acrylic sheet with an aluminum backing. It gives the image depth and a glow in daylight, needs no frame, and hangs flush to the wall.
Each image is printed 25 times, in any size combined. When the edition is sold it is retired. Your number is written on the border of the print and on the certificate.
Every print ships with a signed certificate carrying the title, edition number, size, paper and date, and a short note on where and when the image was made.
Each print is made after you order it, inspected, and shipped flat or rolled in an archival tube depending on size. Allow two to three weeks. Acrylic pieces ship crated.
